About Me-and-Us
Me-and-Us is a company owned and run by Hilary Dixon and David Collier. The company was formed in 1996.
Me-and-Us is a Social Enterprise, which means that it has explicit social aims and its surpluses are reinvested to achieve its social objectives.
Me-and-Us operates within the UK Government definition of a Social Enterprise, as explained at
www.socialenterprise.org.uk
Me-and-Us published its first teaching resource in 2002 and our aim is to maintain the quality and number of useful, practical resources for Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE), in particular Sex and Relationships Education.
Educational methods are practical and based upon Active Learning. The Active Learning process uses a sequenced approach that always includes the elements:
• Do (students take part in an activity in the whole class, in a group, in pairs or alone)
• Review (students review and reflect on the activity)
• Learn (the educator helps students draw out their learning)
• Apply (the educator encourages the students to apply their learning to their own situation, or their own personal or social development)
The process of Active Learning is explained in more detail in our book,
Active Learning.
