New Edition of CHANCE to Choose
see: CHANCE to Choose description

Chance to Choose has now been completely revised and updated and issued on CD, particularly to take account of the developing role of all schools and colleges, not only for sex and relationships education, but also for ensuring entitlement for all students.

There are five new elements in this edition:

It is now produced on CD. This enables the educator to print just the pages that are required for an activity and to reprint whenever pages become damaged during classroom use. The pages on the CD file may be reprinted any number of times by the owner of the CD.
It now focuses particularly on school-based learning, since this is increasingly where sex and relationships programmes are taking place. However, much of the book is equally suitable for work in other settings and with young adults.
It now uses the term 'special needs' as opposed to 'learning difficulties', in recognition of the increasing complexity of needs in both mainstream and special schools and in the community. It is sufficiently flexible to be used with students with a wide range of special needs.
It is now organised using the English system of key stages, including Key Stage 2 (children aged 7– 11) and before, Key Stage 3 (young people aged 11–14), and Key Stage 4 (young people aged 14–16) and beyond.
It is now arranged around eight themes which are developed as the document progresses through the key stages. Information on each theme is given in the next section (see pages 12–19) and there is a chart (on pages 21–21) which shows how the themes and activities can be developed through the key stages.

The new edition of Chance to Choose draws on two additional resources, Picture Yourself and Picture Yourself 2, both of which provide a large number of visual support materials for specific activities, as well as providing a visual resource bank for other education work.

Some of the activities towards the end of the set are particularly geared to those who are in a sexual relationship, or contemplating a sexual relationship.
