Introduction
The aim of these standards is to ensure that all Me-and-Us training provides a consistently
high-quality experience for participants, and that participants are themselves equipped to deliver sensitive
and appropriate education, information, advice and support. The standards are based on the
Recommended Quality Standards for Sexual Health Training produced by the Department of Health in 2005.
In Our Training We Aim To:

enable participants to meet learning outcomes and competencies by developing their knowledge,
skills, understanding and confidence

encourage the development of inter-personal and communication skills

respectfully challenge attitudes and practice which limit equality of opportunity, human rights and dignity

equip participants to work with diverse groups and individuals

engage people's intellect, experience, thoughts and feelings

use resources, materials and activities that reflect

We Aim To Deliver Training That:

includes a mix of content, methods and training styles to match
the professional needs of participants and to ensure the most effective learning

uses participatory methods to allow opportunities for discussion and exploration of attitudes

sets a climate where participants' needs and opinions can be addressed in safety,
and where boundaries and working agreements are explicit

works in non-judgemental, respectful and sensitive ways, using appropriate language
Our Trainers Will:

have relevant training experience, understanding, knowledge and skills

be adequately prepared for their role

be clear about professional boundaries and know when and how to refer participants on to relevant
sources of support

continue their own professional and personal development

work to the

We Expect All Participants To:

commit themselves to attend for the whole training event

participate in the evaluation of training

involve themselves in individual, small group and plenary activities, and in discussion
